The DL on Hair Extensions

Extensions

1. They are a lot of work. When I say, high maintence, I mean HIGH maintence.
2. You need a special brush (wet brush).
3. You need to separate each extension every night.
4. You need to braid your hair every night to keep the extensions tight.
5. Get ready to empty your pockets because they are also EXTREMELY expensive.

BEFORE:
I got mine for length.I had long hair but I wanted extremely long, mermaid hair.

AFTER:

OVERALL:
The extensions enhanced my ombre and added the length that I wanted but the upkeep (even for me) has been way too intense.

Part 1: Birthday Style

Every girl has their own take on what to wear for her big birthday bash. I believe one can never go wrong with lots and lots of BLING. I think "VEGAS" every time my birthday rolls around. This year, I went with the following for make up and attire.

MAKE UP: MAC by Judy Chung of Bloomy's (NYC)
Juju.c.mua@gmail.com for appointments

1. Ombrelip #nofilter

2. Major sparkles on the eyes

Promoted Designer: “JK Designs” by Jessica Reeks (Location: Charleston)

“JK Designs” by Jessica Reeks (Location: Charleston, SC)

My brother went to the Citadel in Charleston S.C. I was forced throughout the years to visit during hot summers, sitting outside watching him march back and forth on the Citadel grounds. As an adult, I adore this city. The market place, the people and the beauty that encompasses the history surrounding it. While my family once again sat at the Citadel for a football game, I ventured off for a massage at Earthling Day Spa (245 E Bay St, Charleston, SC 29401).

It was during this visit that I walked around the day spa shop and came across, “JK Designs” by Jessica Reeks. I couldn’t help but notice the detail, modern style and quality in her creations.

Meet the designer:

Jessica Reeks renamed her business "JK Designs" in remembrance of the coolest person she has ever known - her mother. Jessica's name starting with a "J" and her mother's name being Kathy. Kathy was her biggest supporter. There was not a day that went by that Kathy didn't wear her creations. Together they create "JK Designs." The modern yet delicate designs that are shared today. Jessica hopes that in every piece of jewelry that she creates that her mother's amazing spirit is felt."

We can attest to that feeling and adore each piece.

Here are a few that I personally find to be absolutely stunning:

Jessica makes every piece to order so customers are able to select their own gemstones. Necklaces are 14 K Gold Filled and Bracelets are Gold non-tarnish wire with select gemstones.

You can find JK Designs in the Downtown City Market in Charleston, SC during their evening market on Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30 to 10:30. For customized orders and a detailed consult, you can reach Jessica at: jkdesignscharleston@gmail.com

Fall: Street Fashion - "Jenn" in Brooklyn, NYC

My friend Jenn is the most rad hipster in BK. Yeah, I said it. Everytime I see her, I wonder, "How does she pull it off, Jackie? I could never wear that." Funky jackets with tailored pants, tops layered with different fabrics paired with the unlikely jean, coming across as polished and stylish. Lately, sweaters have been paired with fitted skirts that go from preppy to hip instantly with a twist of edge to top it off. Gotta love the edge. Take a look.

Accessorize it up lady!

Moral of the story - wear what you want, when you want. Period. It's all about you.
DO IT UP.

1. SUNGLASSES can make you look amazing even when you have no make up on.
(American Rag leather jacket, size L, $79)

 2. BIG RINGS look spectaular on a short hand (like mine). You can't tell can you?
(American Rag leather jacket, size L, $79)

 3. We all have that day job and even for the office, thick big gold jewelry works.
(Ralph Lauren dress, size 10, $175)

 4. Always channel Audrey Hepburn in  Breakfast at Tiffany's. She exudes fashion in every sense.

5. Hide from bad people. This has nothing to do with fashion. Just good advice.
(American Rag leather jacket, size L, $79)

 6. FAKE GLASSES. I love when people get offended when my glasses are clear or 'not real' - who the hell cares? They look awesome. Bye!
(American Apparel dress, size S and eBay fake glasses)

 7. HATS. Guys hats. Girls hats. Grandma hats. Old hats. 50's hats. Caps. Beanies. WEAR them all.
(Vintage pilot dress, size 4)

8. Fashion is fearless. Be just that.
(American Rag leather jacket, size L, $79)
