What is Ombre? 

Ombre is a defined fade of two colors starting at the top, fading down into the roots. Depending on the style, the fade may not be that blended and the two colors stand apart very noticeably.

What is Balayage?

Balayage is a technique that incorporates the 'painting' on of highlights rather than using foil. It appears to be lower down on the root and gives a natural 'hint' of color.
